Role : Performance Architect

Location : Richardson, TX

Duration : Full Time

Job Description :

•    Collaborate with Architects, Developers, Infrastructure, Application, Security, and NOC teams on designing scalable and highly available database platforms

•    Engage in all aspects of building and maintaining the database infrastructure

•    Ensure proper security, monitoring, alerting, and reporting for database infrastructure

•    Troubleshoot and resolve production issues

•    Performance tuning of queries and database processes

•    Work non-traditional hours when necessary, including a rotating on-call schedule

Basic Qualifications:

•    12 years’ experience with Oracle 11

•    7+ years’ experience with PL/SQL, Performance tuning of queries

•    Experience with query tuning

•    Previous experience operating in a high availability production environment

•    Ability to learn new technologies such as MongoDB and Elastic

•    A strong understanding of how to achieve and maintain high availability with Oracle and MySQL

•    Good attitude, motivated to learn and can pick things up quickly on their own

•    Manage multiple DBMS platforms in production/QA/dev environments including installation, configuration, backup, recovery, upgrades, schema changes, etc.

•    Perform database health monitoring and diagnostics

•    Implement monitoring, auditing, and alert systems for databases

•    Troubleshoot and resolve problems in a production environment

•    Design, implement, maintain and automate appropriate backup and recovery database architectures

•    Architect, design, implement and maintain multi-site high availability database clusters for multiple database management systems

•    Work with various teams for performance tuning, query optimization, index tuning, caching, buffer tuning, etc.

Desired Qualifications:

•    Agile/Kanban/Lean methodologies applied to IT/Operations workflow

•    Experience with JIRA and Confluence

•    Experience with Oracle streams replication

•    Experience with Elastic / ELK

•    Experience with MongoDB

•    Experience with optimizing and supporting large multi-terabyte databases

•    Strong understanding of Linux operating system, storage solutions, networking (particularly TCP/IP), security, and web servers

•    Experience with document oriented design with JSON databases (MongoDB, Elastic, etc.)

•    Experience with Cloud based systems or Virtual environments (VMWare, AWS)

•    Strong experience with database administration on an enterprise class database platform in a mission critical context
